On May 22, 2025, Intel launched three new Intel Xeon 6 series processors, specifically designed to meet the needs of AI systems equipped with leading GPUs. These processors are equipped with performance cores (P-cores) and integrate Intel's innovative Priority Core Turbo (PCT) and Intel Speed Select – Turbo Frequency (Intel SST-TF) technology, which can provide customized CPU core frequencies to improve GPU performance under high-intensity AI workloads.
Three new Xeon 6 processors are now available, one of which will be used as the main processor in Nvidia's latest generation of AI acceleration system DGX B300. Nvidia DGX B300 is equipped with Intel Xeon 6776P processors, which play a crucial role in the management, coordination, and support of AI acceleration systems. With outstanding memory capacity and bandwidth, the Xeon 6776Ps can fully meet the growing needs of AI models and datasets.
PCT significantly improves AI performance. The combination of Intel PCT and SST-TF brings significant improvements to AI system performance. PCT dynamically allows high-priority cores to run at a higher turbo frequency, while low-priority cores run at the base frequency, thus optimizing CPU resource allocation. This feature is crucial for AI workloads that require sequential or serial processing, as it not only accelerates data transfer to the GPU but also significantly improves the overall system efficiency.
From a broader perspective, the Intel Xeon 6 performance cores processor provides industry-leading features for a variety of AI systems, including:
High core count and outstanding single-thread performance: up to 128 performance cores per CPU, ensuring effective workload distribution in intensive
AI tasks Faster memory speed: Intel Xeon 6 provides superior memory performance in high-capacity configurations and offers leading memory bandwidth through MRDIMM and CXL.
Enhanced I/O performance: Compared to the previous generation of Xeon processors, Intel Xeon 6 has up to 20% more PCIe lanes, accelerating data transfer for I/O-intensive workloads.
Greater stability and ease of maintenance: These processors are designed to maximize uptime, offering superior stability and maintenance features to minimize the likelihood of business disruptions.
Intel Advanced Matrix Extensions (AMX): These processors support FP16 precision operations, providing efficient support for data preprocessing and critical CPU tasks in AI workloads.
Enterprises are continuing to upgrade their infrastructure to meet the growing demand for AI. Against this background, Intel Xeon 6 Performance Core processors, with their outstanding performance and energy efficiency, have become the preferred choice for enterprises to upgrade. It not only provides strong support for diversified data centers and network applications, but also further consolidates Intel's leading position in AI-optimized CPU solutions.
